Overview of Transaction
- On May 24, 2022, Arcadia announced it has agreed to acquire Urjanet, the leader in energy and broad utility data, which connects commercial customers with their utility data through its proprietary Open Everything network supporting ESG, carbon reporting, energy management, fraud, payments and many other use-cases
- Founded in 2010, Urjanet’s cloud-based, proprietary network seamlessly extracts and normalizes disparate data and provides open access to customers’ account information and actions, making the world’s utility data easily accessible and usable
- Through over a decade of innovation, Urjanet created a network with unrivaled worldwide access to business and consumer accounts, including over 9,500 service providers in the network, 95% coverage of U.S. households and businesses, and touching over 30% of the Fortune 500
Significance of Transaction
- Urjanet’s global data access will integrate with Arcadia’s industry-leading data and API platform, Arc, enabling it to become the universal software layer for the zero-carbon economy
- Combined, Urjanet and Arcadia will be able to track real utility-grade meter data, map it to the carbon-intensity of the grid where those companies operate, and find clean electricity to match those needs
- Urjanet significantly expands Arc’s data coverage, providing access to global, high-fidelity energy data that allows businesses around the world to leverage its network effects and enable a wide range of use cases including energy optimization, renewable energy, payments, and carbon accounting
